Welcome to the home page of security education for the Department of Computer Science and the point of coordination for activities at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

UMass Amherst receives funding from both the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Justice, the Dept of Defense, and other sources. UMass has been an NSA Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education & Research since 2003.

Our efforts are collaborative across the university and surrounding area. Several departments offer courses and for undergraduates and graduates on information assurance. The Department of Computer Science offers a B.S. concentration in Security & Privacy, and it offers a B.A. degree that can include a concentration in political science, business, and other fields that relate to information assurance. The Dept of Electrical Engineering also offers several courses in security and privacy for its undergraduates. Both departments have rich graduate research programs as well.
